Embracing the New Normal: My Post-Weight Loss Surgery Realizations
Nov 26, 2024

Weight loss surgery brings about a plethora of changes—some expected, others not so much. Among the surprises? Finding myself buying nipple covers on Amazon. Yes, nipple covers! Who would’ve thought?
Boob tape was a fail for me, and I’m convinced it’s not made for real boobs. For anyone who has successfully used it post-weight loss surgery, without fearing an epic wardrobe malfunction, I salute you. Share your secrets, please!
Adjusting to life with “fake titties” after augmentation has been a learning curve. Half the outfits I want to wear have me questioning: “Can you see my nipples?” “Do I need a bra?” It’s a strange and liberating shift from the 44DDD bras I’ve known most of my life.
My journey with my chest started suddenly in seventh grade when I woke up one day with triple Ds. My grandmother wasted no time teasing me to wear a bra, much to my tomboy self’s annoyance. Now, after weight loss and augmentation, it feels like I’ve traded one set of challenges for another. But I’ll take this problem—any day.
It’s still weird adjusting to not needing a bra, but it’s a new experience I’m learning to embrace. To all the ladies who’ve had a similar journey: let’s talk! Share your stories, your struggles, and your wins. Because navigating this new normal is something we don’t have to do alone.
