Why I Had Bariatric Surgery: It's More Than Weight Loss
Jan 14, 2025

When I decided to have bariatric surgery, I knew not everyone would understand or agree with my choice. But here’s the truth: I didn’t have this surgery just to live on protein shakes 2.5 years later. I didn’t do it to diet endlessly or to follow the same patterns that had controlled my life before. For me, that chapter is over.
Today, I have a lifestyle—one that’s focused on long-term health and genuine change. I didn’t go through the process of weight loss surgery so I could continue unhealthy habits under the guise of being "healthier." Skipping the bun at fast food restaurants or substituting everything with sugar-free options wasn’t the answer I was looking for. In fact, since my surgery, I haven’t even had fast food. Why? Because my journey was never about quick fixes or temporary solutions.
A Deeper Purpose
At The Rewrite Lifestyle Center, our philosophy aligns with my personal journey. I chose bariatric surgery to address my metabolic health, not just to lose weight. This wasn’t about reaching a specific number on the scale. Trust me when I say this: If your only goal is hitting a target weight, you might be disappointed. There’s no magical moment when the heavens open and a voice declares, "You’ve made it!"
The real transformation isn’t just physical; it’s about going deeper, redefining your habits, and making bold, scary changes that inspire others. Imagine being the person people talk about: “Did you see Lisa? She skipped the cookies at the office. She’s out at the park running with her kids. She’s showing up for her life in ways that are truly inspiring.”
Beyond Basic After Bariatric Surgery
At Bariatric Rewrite, we emphasize that surgery isn’t a shortcut, and it’s not about being basic. It’s about stepping into a new identity—one where you embrace challenges and redefine what’s possible. It’s about saying no to the things that once held you back and yes to the things that push you forward.
For me, the journey has been about breaking free from old habits, creating a sustainable lifestyle, and focusing on metabolic health. I’ve learned to prioritize what truly matters: showing up for my family, making healthier choices, and inspiring others with actions, not just words.
The Bigger Picture
If you’re considering or have undergone bariatric surgery, remember this: It’s not just about what you lose; it’s about what you gain. The confidence to say no to things that don’t serve you. The strength to inspire others. The courage to live fully.
At The Rewrite Lifestyle Center, we’re here to guide you on this transformative journey. Don’t settle for less than the life you’re capable of living. Be bold. Be unapologetically you. And most importantly, don’t be afraid to be the change that others look up to.
