✈️ A Travel Day Without Fast Food — And Zero Drama

On travel days, fast food doesn’t even cross my mind—not because I’m a “food saint,” but because I stopped eating it three years ago. What happened after? Freedom.

This blog shares what I ate on a recent flight to Chicago: no drive-thru detours, no stress, and no drama. Just thoughtful choices that feel good in my body. Spoiler alert: it’s easier than you think.

 

 

☕ Morning Ritual: Cortado + Cacao Yogurt with Cherries

I kicked off my travel day with two things I love:

  • A cortado (small but mighty)

  • Unsweetened cacao yogurt topped with juicy cherries—my favorite, antioxidant-packed combo.

It’s rich, satisfying, and sets a grounded tone for the day.

 

💼 Errands + Coffee: Keeping It Simple

I had to run a few errands before heading to the airport. My go-to order at Starbucks?
An Americano with a splash of heavy cream.
No sugar. No flavors. No frills. It’s not boring—it’s functional. And when food stops being entertainment, you start feeling free.

 

🥪 On the Plane: Sandwiches + Fruit

Prepared, not paranoid. That’s my mantra when it comes to food and flying.

I packed:

  • Homemade sandwiches using Dave’s Killer Bread (because I know you’re going to ask)

  • A fresh orange for hydration and a hit of vitamin C

No panic-snacking. No inflight hunger meltdown. Just real food that travels well.

 

🍽️ Dinner in Chicago: Local, Delicious, Spontaneous

After landing, we found a local restaurant and ordered a plate of meatballs and a fresh salad.
It wasn’t pre-planned. It wasn’t restrictive. And it was absolutely delicious.
No fast food. No Popeyes. No Chick‑fil‑A. And no drama.

 

🧠 The Real Shift: Food as Fuel, Not a Crutch

The truth? Once you stop relying on junk food as your emotional safety net, you realize… it was never saving you to begin with.

I didn’t white-knuckle my way through the day.
I just didn’t need fast food.
Because I planned a little, stayed flexible, and trusted that I could handle the day without using food to cope.
