From Panic to Power: Winning Small Victories After Weight Loss Surgery
Apr 22, 2025

The Booth Moment: A Real-Life Reminder of Progress
If you’ve ever been morbidly obese, you’ll understand this story. I used to weigh 298 pounds at my heaviest. Just yesterday, I saw a woman at a restaurant frozen with anxiety, wondering if she’d fit in the booth—a scenario I’ve lived more times than I can count.
She nervously emptied her pockets, hoping it might make a difference, even though the booth was bolted down—unforgiving and immovable. I saw the panic on her face, and my heart broke. Because I know that panic. I lived that panic. And let me tell you: I don’t miss it.
Celebrating the Victories That Don’t Show Up on the Scale
On this journey, we focus so hard on the number on the scale that we forget the real wins—the non-scale victories (NSVs) that matter just as much, if not more. We stress over three days of stalled weight loss and miss the celebration of fitting in the damn booth again.
If you're on this journey, remember this: every small, intentional choice brings you closer to the life you want. Prioritize yourself. Celebrate every win. Yes, even the booth ones.
